Training at the Dedregya Clinic

Finally NORWAC’s consultants, urologist Trygve Talseth and Gro Cecilia Stensrød, a nurse specialist in urology, were able to travel back to Lebanon on the 13th of June.  It is three years ago, since their last visit to Imam Sadr Foundation’s (ISF) rehabilitation clinic in Dedregya.

Improving Mental Health in Gaza

NORWAC received funding for a new project in Gaza last year in May. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of mental health services and provide patients with mental health conditions access to the appropriate medication. The first mission took finally place in March 2022.

NORWAC visits the Lebanese Minister of Public Health

On the 27 September, a delegation by NORWAC headed by our CEO Dr. Erik Fosse visited the newly appointed Lebanese Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firass Abiad. NORWAC was accompanied by a delegation from the Norwegian embassy in Lebanon headed by Ambassador Martin Yttervik, and Dr. Abdullah Omari from NORWAC’s partner organisation URDA.

Visit to Arsal

On the 30th of September a delegation of representatives from NORWAC and from our local implementing partner URDA, visited Arsal. NORWAC has since 2015 supported the only hospital available for the local community and the large group of Syrian Refugees living in the area.

Supporting the education of Palestinian Health Personnel

NORWAC supports education in nursing for Palestinian students both at university and vocational training level. 35 students are enrolled in NORWAC supported programs in 2019-2020.

Successful cooperation between Norway and Lebanon

Since the opening in 2014, the Derdghaiya clinic in South Lebanon has offered health services to people suffering from Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI).

Extra funds to Gaza- 5. mill. NOK

NORWAC has recieved another 5. million NOK from the MFA for Emergency Aid to Gaza. The funding will  provide help for the dire need of medical supplies and medical equipment. NORWAC consultant orthopedic surgeon Geir Stray Andreassen was in Gaza in May and experienced the large numbers of injured from the "Great March of Return".
