Strengthening Healthcare in Syria Through Medical Training
To help strengthen local medical capacity and improve patient care, NORWAC has launched a new initiative focusing on training healthcare professionals in advanced gynecological laparoscopic surgery.
As part of the project, we have opened the country’s first Laparoscopic Surgery Skills Center at Aleppo University Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Laparoscopic, or “keyhole” surgery, is a minimally invasive technique that can reduce complications, shorten hospital stays, and support faster recovery for patients. The center provides doctors with a safe and practical learning environment where they can develop and refine their surgical skills using modern simulation technology before performing procedures on patients.
In addition to establishing the training center, NORWAC has equipped one operating room (OR), with a second OR scheduled to be equipped during 2026. These OR’s enable healthcare professionals to combine training with hands-on experience in the operating room. The support includes complete laparoscopic towers and their associated systems, essential surgical accessories, and selected equipment to address critical gaps in the operating rooms, ensuring the safe delivery of laparoscopic procedures.
The Aleppo center is the first in a planned network of training facilities across Syria. In addition, NORWAC will equip two operating rooms in Damascus, helping ensure the continuity of training and further strengthening local expertise. Through this long-term investment in medical education, NORWAC aims to support a stronger healthcare system, build sustainable local expertise, and improve access to quality care for patients for years to come.
تعزيز الرعاية الصحية في سوريا من خلال التدريب الطبي
في إطار جهودها لتعزيز القدرات الطبية المحلية والارتقاء بجودة الرعاية الصحية، أطلقت منظمة نورواك مشروع جديد يهدف إلى تدريب الكوادر الصحية على جراحة المناظير النسائية.
وكجزء من هذا المشروع، افتتحت نورواك أول مركز لمهارات جراحة المناظير في سوريا يقع في مستشفى حكومي وهو مستشفى حلب الجامعي لأمراض وجراحة النساء والتوليد.
وتُعد جراحة المناظيرمن التقنيات الجراحية المتقدمة التي تُسهم في تقليل المضاعفات، وتقصير مدة الإقامة في المستشفى، وتسريع تعافي المرضى. ويوفر المركز للأطباء بيئة تدريبية آمنة وعملية تُمكّنهم من اكتساب وتطوير مهاراتهم الجراحية باستخدام أحدث تقنيات المحاكاة قبل إجراء العمليات على المرضى.
وبالإضافة إلى إنشاء المركز، زوّدت نورواك المستشفى بمعدات متكاملة لجراحة المناظير، مما يتيح للكوادر الطبية الجمع بين التدريب العملي والتطبيق المباشر داخل غرفة العمليات. ومن المقرر تزويد المستشفى بمعدات لغرفة عمليات ثانية خلال عام 2026، بما يضمن استمرارية التدريب وتعزيز الخبرات المحلية.
ويُعد مركز حلب أول مركز ضمن شبكة من مراكز التدريب المزمع إنشاؤها في مختلف أنحاء سوريا. ومن خلال هذا الاستثمار طويل الأمد في التعليم الطبي، تسعى نورواك إلى دعم نظام صحي أكثر قوة، وبناء خبرات وطنية مستدامة، وتحسين فرص حصول المرضى على رعاية صحية عالية الجودة لسنوات قادمة.
