NORWAC at the WHO Emergency Medical Teams conference in Madrid
Last week, our colleague Lisa Jeppesen represented NORWAC at the WHO European Regional Meeting for Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) in Madrid. The conference was hosted by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and brought together EMT actors from across Europe.
The conference is a part of the WHO’s global EMT strategy towards 2030 and was dedicated to how countries can strengthen their preparedness for health emergencies, both nationally and through international cooperation.
The discussions centred on three key areas:
-
- Strengthening national health systems’ ability to respond to emergencies
- Integrating EMT standards into public health systems
- Improving international coordination and solidarity through WHO-led mechanisms
Reflecting on the meeting, Lisa highlights the importance of continued collaboration across borders:
“NORWAC is proud to be part of this important work, and we look forward to building on the knowledge and connections gained in Madrid to further strengthen our EMTs.”
