New MoU marks another step in NORWAC’s long-term engagement
Following the recent MoU with the Ministry of Higher Education, NORWAC has expanded its cooperation in Syria through a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Syrian Ministry of Health. The signing took place earlier this week in the presence of H.E. Hilde Haraldstad, the Norwegian Ambassador to Syria, and H.E. Dr. Musab Al-Ali, the Minister of Health, underscoring a shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare across the country.
Through this collaboration, NORWAC will work with the Ministry of Health to advance national health programmes, providing around 80,000 blood units per year, and addressing service gaps in Thalassemia care, dialysis, urology, and diagnostic services. Together, these efforts will reach approximately 130,000 beneficiaries annually, alongside the rehabilitation of 26 health facilities to improve access and quality of care.
This partnership reflects NORWAC’s focus on sustainability and national ownership—supporting the development of public health programmes while ensuring that essential services continue until they can be fully managed by national institutions. NORWAC expresses its deep appreciation to its donor for their ongoing trust and support, which make such long-term collaborations and results possible.
