Delivering knitwear to Maarouf Saad Foundation in Lebanon

A few weeks ago, members from NORWAC’s Oslo headquarter travelled to Syria and Lebanon to meet with partners. During our visit to the Maarouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation in Saida, Lebanon, we brought with us knitted baby hats that had been kindly donated. These small but meaningful items are especially important for premature babies and newborns, as they help keep them warm during their first fragile days.

The Maarouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation (MSSCF) provides educational, health, and social services for marginalised people in and around Saida. In addition to primary healthcare centres and a community outreach centre, MSSCF works closely with the local community to design and implement social development programmes that respond to their needs. Their initiatives include awareness campaigns, social support programmes, mental health and summer activities for children, and healthcare services, all aiming to strengthen community resilience and inclusion.

We are deeply grateful for the many knitted baby hats that have been donated. The team at Maarouf Saad expressed heartfelt appreciation, as these small gifts bring warmth and comfort to families.

While we are truly thankful for the many generous donations, our storage and delivery capacity for knitted items has now reached its limit. For those who would still like to support our work, we kindly encourage you to sell the knitted baby hats locally and donate the proceeds to NORWAC instead. This ensures that your contribution continues to make a direct impact where it is most needed.

Thank you sincerely for your understanding and continued support, and to our partners at the Maarouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation for ensuring that these gifts reach those who need them the most.
