Gaza Emergency Response

Posted on Jul 9, 2014

Following the recent escalation of violence in Gaza, NORWAC has released emergency funds for public hospitals in Gaza. 100.000 USD are earmarked for the procurement of drugs and medical disposable. In addition, NORWAC has received USD 1,4 million in emergency aid from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These funds will be used to support the public health sector's ability to manage the emergency situation.

The public health sector in Gaza, especially hospitals, lacks critical physical infrastructure needed for satisfactory patient safety. After repeated fighting and seven years of Israeli siege Gaza is in desperate need of supplies and stocks of essential drugs, IV-fluids, disposables, spare parts, lab chemicals and instruments. NORWAC calls for an immediate halt to the violence which is threatening civilians.
